IMD’s November 2018 EMBA’s commemorate their learning transformations

November 2018

On Friday, November 23, 2018, a dynamic group of leaders graduate from the IMD Executive MBA program. This year’s class of 62 participants, representing 28 nationalities, will receive their diplomas in the presence of family and friends, during the ceremony held at Beau-Rivage Hotel in Lausanne.

2018 marks the 19th year IMD has offered the Executive MBA program. I am proud to have directed this program for 4 years, and particularly proud of this cohort’s achievements,” said Stefan Michel, Dean of IMD Executive MBA Program.

The group of executive leaders have come to IMD from various educational backgrounds and walks of life – health science, finance, pharmaceutical, NGO, technology, and luxury industries. Many will return to their companies after graduation, including: the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Ericsson, Bloomberg, Mövenpick, Merck, Honeywell, PWC, Hermès, and European Broadcasting Union, to name a few.

The requirements for global leaders are constantly changing. Leaders will be tasked with increasingly complex technologies. Throughout the program, EMBA students have the opportunity to hone their skills in marketing, strategy, digital transformation and personal leadership during the modules of Foundations for Business Leadership, Advanced Management Concepts, and Discovery Expeditions.

Depending on work commitments, the EMBA can be completed in 15 months, or can be spread over a longer period if needed. The senior executives learn in 4 international locations: on campus in Switzerland, Silicon Valley and two additional destinations by choosing from Brazil, China, India, Israel, Kenya, or Peru.

The participants learned to master management skills in diversified business, social and political contexts and explore the global and regional forces that impact the way business is done. The learning is applied immediately: through company assignments, allowing for growth in leadership, cross-cultural agility, and crisis management training. The class finalized their learning journey with an intensive crisis management module in an army bunker with the Swiss military.

The graduates will join the IMD alumni network of 100,000 people worldwide, comprised of 1,300 EMBA alumni to leverage their impressive networks more widely. “We are proud of our EMBA graduates and look forward to welcoming their active participation in the alumni communities, events and activities,” said Johan Govea, Director of Alumni.

IMD EMBA graduates are leaving the campus with positive memories, catapulting their careers with freshly acquired knowledge and skill sets, all while having the best possibility to impact their lives and those around them.

IMD warmly congratulates and wishes each member all the best for the future.
