Lausanne, Switzerland, 29 April 2019 – IMD, an independent business school, with Swiss roots and global reach, and Pictet, one of Europe’s leading independent wealth and asset managers, have joined forces to celebrate family-owned businesses that stand out in their work and commitment towards sustainability. Together we are launching the IMD-Pictet Sustainability in Family Business Award.
IMD and Pictet have signed the three-year agreement to recognise excellence in sustainability.
“In an age of growing distrust towards institutions, IMD and Pictet are creating this award to encourage and help leaders and organisations to be a force for good in the world. Family businesses are among the most proactive in this area as they understand the importance of long-term thinking,” observed IMD President Jean-François Manzoni. “We are delighted to be launching this award with Pictet, an institution with strong values and a clear interest in sustainability.”
The award has a particular focus on strategy, initiatives, impact, implementation and engagement in the field of sustainability. IMD Professor and Award Director Sameh Abadir said: “I am very excited to have the opportunity to craft this award and ensure that worthy sustainable endeavors are recognised and celebrated on a global platform.”
Commenting on the new award, Boris Collardi, Partner at Pictet, said: “Sustainability is central to Pictet’s thinking. As a partnership, we are financially independent, which allows us to concentrate on thinking about the long-term interests of our clients, our staff, the communities we work and live in and, ultimately of the company itself.”
The call for nominations and collection of applications will begin as of 29 April 2019. Please submit your online application by 15 June 2019.
This award – to be presented at IMD business school in Lausanne on 5 December 2019 – is one of two accolades awarded by IMD to family businesses each year. The first award is the established IMD Global Family Business Award sponsored by Pictet, which celebrates excellence in family business and is widely regarded as the most prestigious for successful global family enterprises.
The Scheufele Family who is part of the long history of Chopard – a family business with a long-term commitment to sustainable business practices – will contribute the winner’s trophy.
The Global Family Business Award has distinguished family businesses around the world since 1996.
