Team dynamics (A)
Five employees who worked for the same company were selected to work together in a team for a six-week period. The team’s task was to identify new potential markets for the company. The team divided itself into sub-groups, grouping together individual skill sets best suited to the different phases of the project. One of the team members, Christine, was unhappy about being assigned to a sub-group with Sally because of her low expectations of Sally. The case describes how the dynamics between Christine and Sally deteriorate, the way this affects team dynamics as a whole, and asks what can be done to turn the situation around.
