Matthew Lewis was the successor to John Lewis, who is the founder and CEO of Lewis Family Enterprise (LFE). After his first year working at LFE, Matthew approached John with a proposal for a business process reengineering (BPR) project. After John refused to implement the project, Matthew wondered whether his father would ever accept him as successor to the company, and what his opportunities might have been at a rival firm.
