This case addresses the career choice of an individual who started employment with a large North American corporation. His first field assignment is to align the corporate culture of a newly acquired entrepreneurially managed company ($8 mio sales) with the corporate culture of the owning company ($500 mio sales). Faced with the difficulty of the task and contradictions emerging from the head office he decides to build his own company and to go into competition with his current employer, together with a group of senior managers from the same company.
