7 pages
June 1997
Reference: IMD-2-0073

This case covers a conflict between a medium sized corporation and the local community. The events described could have happened anytime, anywhere and to anyone. It examines the key pre-condition for the escalation of the conflict as well as the missed opportunities, the “driver” of the escalation and the options left. It also analyzes the “mental map” of the different players and the reasons for their difficulties to communicate.
