This note encompasses the series of scandals and bribes made by Lockheed from the late 1960s to the 1970s in the process of negotiating the sale of aircraft. The scandals played a role in the formulation of the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Learning Objective

To introduce students to the issues surrounding corruption in international business. Can be used together with the “Corruption at Siemens” case (IMD-1-0278) as a basis for class discussion on ethics.
