The institute’s sustainability initiatives received an overall score of 73, placing it in the top 5% of educational institutions assessed.
July 2024

IMD has been awarded a Gold Sustainability Rating by the globally trusted provider of sustainability evaluations EcoVadis.

Achieving an overall score of 73 – an increase of six points from 2023 – IMD has cemented its position among the top 5% of organizations evaluated and confirms the institution’s continuous improvement towards greater sustainability.

The rating measures companies on their policies, actions, and reporting in four key areas: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Significant improvements were made in all three areas. The environment and ethics sub-scores both increased by 10 points to 80, and the sustainable procurement sub-score rose by 20 points, bringing it to 70. This progress is largely attributed to the new supplier code of conduct and sustainable procurement policy introduced by the Executive Committee this year.

“This recognition reflects our dedication to sustainability, which is deeply embedded in IMD’s purpose and strategic vision for the future,” said David Bach, IMD President-Elect, Professor of Strategy and Political Economy, and Dean of Innovation and Programs. “Our continuous improvements in this area, especially in sustainable procurement, underscore our commitment to integrating more conscious, forward-thinking practices across all our operations.”

Established in 2007, EcoVadis is globally recognized as a leading trusted provider of business sustainability evaluations and has assessed more than 100,000 companies across 175 countries.
