IMD is pleased to announce that Niccolò Pisani, Professor of Strategy and International Business, was recognized in the 2023 EFMD Case Writing Competition for his case on HEINEKEN, co-authored with Inès Augier.
Their case Future-proofing HEINEKEN: The EverGreen strategy won the award for Continuous Improvement: The Journey to Excellence, sponsored by EFMD.
“Winning this award means a lot to me. The case focuses on a successful company, HEINEKEN, and its quest for continuous improvement in the face of major changes in the environment – from the digital disruption to the recent geopolitical and macroeconomic developments,” said Pisani.
It follows the journey of HEINEKEN’s CEO in navigating the highly uncertain and volatile post-pandemic world by developing a multi-year plan designed to future-proof the organization and turn it into a highly adaptive entity, delivering long-term sustainable value to its stakeholders.
“I really enjoyed writing the case together with my co-author Inès Augier and interacting with HEINEKEN’s senior leaders to learn more about the design and implementation of their current strategy,” he added.
Organized yearly since 1988, the case writing competition encourages innovative and impactful case writing and teaching that contributes to management development. An international judging panel reviews over 400 cases through several categories representing critical managerial areas.
Last year, IMD Professor of Sustainable Innovation and Business Transformation Julia Binder and IMD Affiliate Professor of Leadership and Communication Heather Cairns-Lee were recognized in the Responsible Leadership category for their case on Logitech’s carbon labeling.
