Lausanne, Switzerland, 4 October 2018 – IMD business school was reaccredited for the maximum 5-year period by the EQUIS Accreditation Board. EQUIS stands for European Quality Improvement System and its in-depth assessment processes ensure that institutions demonstrate not only excellence and innovation in all activities but also a high degree of internationalization.
IMD is one of the 176 institutions worldwide to be EQUIS accredited and also the only institution in Switzerland to hold all three of the “triple crown” accreditations: EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA.
During a three-day period in June, a team of four expert peer reviewers from the world of management education visited the IMD campus and assessed IMD against the EQUIS standards. They interviewed campus stakeholders, including the management team, faculty members, degree program participants.
IMD President, Jean-François Manzoni, stated: “The reaccreditation process is a very stimulating experience that involved pretty much everyone in the institution including faculty, MBA and EMBA participants, IMD board members and corporate clients. The peer review team’s findings highlighted IMD’s strengths such as shared values, insightful research and international relevance. They also supported IMD’s ambition to deliver interventions that achieve high individual and organizational impact. Alongside this positive reinforcement, the EQUIS process also helped us to identify areas where we can and should do even better over the coming years.”
EQUIS accreditation ensures a rigorous quality control, benchmarking the school against international standards in terms of governance, programs, students, faculty, research, internationalization, ethics, responsibility and sustainability, as well as corporate engagement. EQUIS attaches particular importance to the creation of an effective learning environment that favors the development of participants’ managerial and entrepreneurial skills and fosters their personal development and sense of global responsibility. EQUIS also looks for innovation in all respects, including program design and pedagogy.
“We are delighted that IMD has again been granted the maximum reaccreditation period of five years. This quality seal positions IMD in the top league of business schools worldwide; only four academic institutions are EQUIS accredited in Switzerland. It encourages us to never rest on our laurels, highlight continuous improvement in everything we do and continue to expand our portfolio of programs: degree, open, custom and online programs,” said Anne-France Borgeaud Pierazzi, Institutional Research and Accreditations Partner.
IMD is an independent business school with Swiss roots and global reach, expert in developing leaders and transforming organizations to create ongoing impact. For the last 7 consecutive years, IMD has been ranked TOP 3 in executive education worldwide – FIRST in open programs (Financial Times 2012-2018).
EQUIS is the leading international system of quality assessment, improvement and accreditation of higher education institutions in management and business administration. EQUIS is run by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and its fundamental objective, linked to the mission of the EFMD, is to raise the standard of management education worldwide. EQUIS has established its prestige and recognition worldwide and has accredited the top 1% – 176 institutions in 42 countries – since its launch in 1997.
