Our People
If you are ready to seize development opportunities at IMD, the institute will be your enabler and sponsor.
I joined IMD as a Research Associate back in 2014. Unlike other business schools, IMD has a very strong anchor in the business world. I thoroughly enjoyed working with faculty on primary case studies – several of which went on to win prestigious awards.
In 2017, I moved into a role where I collaborated with faculty who lead business transformation journeys with the top management teams of global companies. I found myself learning on the job continuously. These real-world challenges provided data and deep insights that enabled me to start co-authoring practitioner articles, which have been published in Harvard Business Review and MIT Sloan Management Review.
Thanks to IMD sponsorship, I embarked on an Executive PhD program in 2020 at ESCP, Paris, ranked as one of the Top 10 European Business Schools by the Financial Times. Throughout my PhD journey, I continued to receive guidance and encouragement from faculty and colleagues alike. I am happy to share that I successfully defended my thesis in 2024, and my career has evolved with my new role as Term Research Professor.
Given we are constantly exposed to interesting conversations about strategic and organizational issues with leaders, we are always challenged to learn, grow and thrive.
Together with my colleagues, we are able to combine our knowledge to address the challenges these leaders face and as a result we can have a direct and meaningful impact on their business.
The ongoing dialogue with leaders allows us to have an impact on their decision making and thereby sparks change within organizations. It is through collective learning that we can change the world one step at a time.
IMD’s culture is open, collaborative and very entrepreneurial.
Life on campus is intellectually stimulating and free from hierarchy. We have a lot of freedom but are also held accountable for results. To me, this is healthy empowerment.
Working at IMD presents a truly unique opportunity to work alongside our world-class faculty every day. I greatly benefit from their knowledge and research, which is helping me learn more and stretch myself.
There are other advantages too. I’ve been lucky enough to connect with senior Global Executives, who have contributed to my personal and professional development over the years.
I will never forget when I joined IMD some 18 years ago. In my early days, I encountered an issue that required my client’s help to solve.
The faculty I worked with said, “call the CEO and ask”.
I was dumbstruck. He gave me the trust and responsibility to reach out to the CEO, despite being a new recruit.
When given these opportunities at IMD, make sure you accept them. They will stand you in good stead as you nurture your career, and give you a chance to expand your network at an accelerated speed.
IMD’s environment is smaller, more human, and much more dynamic than my previous organization, which had 16,000 employees. It fosters a culture of continuous learning and innovation. Unlike my previous role, where the focus was primarily on technical execution, IMD encourages a broader approach to problem– solving. Here, I’m not only responsible for implementing solutions, but also for understanding the strategic impact of my work on the organization. This has enabled me to develop a more global perspective of the IT systems for which I’m responsible and their role in the company’s success.
The supportive environment, combined with the opportunity to work on exciting and varied projects, makes IMD an exceptional place to build a career.
As an Online Program Coordinator based in Cape Town, I create engaging learning experiences, support global participants, foster collaboration, and ensure smooth program operations. This role enables me to contribute to transformative education and witness growth. IMD’s dynamic, international environment focuses on high performance, innovation, strategic thinking, and personal development, making it a rewarding experience where I feel part of the IMD family.
I initially joined IMD as a Program Coordinator, where I had the opportunity to develop my skills in supporting the delivery of programs.
Over time, I evolved into the role of Client Liaison and Program Coordination Lead, leveraging my experience in coordinating complex programs. My role involves not only managing logistics but also engaging closely with clients. I enjoy collaborating with diverse teams, delivering impactful programs, and fostering strong client relationships.
Although I began my journey at IMD in the Finance department, I was given the opportunity to transition into a new role that has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally.
Now that I am part of the Program Management team, I have come to understand the importance of giving my best to every project and task entrusted to me. Embracing a mindset of learning as I go has been a key aspect of my journey, and IMD continues to offer countless opportunities for growth and teamwork. I leverage my knowledge in finance to assist my team with their financial queries, ensuring that we meet all finance-related deadlines efficiently and accurately.
At IMD we strive to build and foster an inclusive, caring, high-performance work environment that attracts talented and engaged colleagues. We support employees in their career development and regularly offer new opportunities within IMD, which are displayed on our internal careers page.
