IMD and the St. Gallen Endowment have announced a strategic partnership with the goal of developing a deeper understanding of the critical role that policy evidence plays in shaping the future of international business, international economic cooperation, and capitalism.

Founded by IMD alumnus Thomas Schmidheiny, the University of St. Gallen, and Professor Simon J. Evenett, the Endowment is a neutral, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting prosperity through better economic institutions and policies. Evenett will join IMD as a Professor of Economics on 1 August.

“At IMD, we want to develop leaders and organizations who contribute to a more prosperous, sustainable, and inclusive world. The Endowment has built a great research team and developed very valuable data sets and insights on various aspects of international trade, digital regulation, and industrial policy. We look forward to joining forces with them to continue to develop these insights and their implications for business organizations and policymakers,” said IMD President Jean-François Manzoni. - IMD Business School

“As a recognized expert on how governments shape international business, I am also delighted that Simon Evenett has decided to join IMD’s faculty to strengthen our expertise in this area,” added Manzoni.

The partnership will benefit both organizations by providing the St. Gallen Endowment with access to IMD’s business education resources and global network.

“We are excited to engage with IMD’s highly stimulating environment, where our experts have already received a warm and collaborative welcome,” said Johannes Fritz, Chief Executive Officer of the St. Gallen Endowment. “We look forward to mutually beneficial projects emerging rapidly from this ambitious partnership.”

The partnership was signed at an official ceremony in Lausanne on 27 May, attended by Thomas Schmidheiny, Simon Evenett, Johannes Fritz, and Jean-François Manzoni.
