IMD pays tribute to Swiss business trailblazer Egon Zehnder

November 2021

On behalf of the entire IMD community, the Executive Committee and Board would like to pay tribute to the life and work of Dr. Egon Zehnder, who passed away on 16 November 2021 aged 91.

Dr. Zehnder was an innovator and giant in the Swiss business landscape, establishing an eponymous management consultancy service in 1964, which would grow to become the world’s largest privately-held executive search firm.

He was a close friend to many in the wider IMD family and a passionate and active supporter of our work for many years, reflected in the naming of the Egon Zehnder auditorium at our Lausanne campus.

We would like to share our deepest condolences with Egon’s family and loved ones at this time as we remember the remarkable life of one of Switzerland’s most inspiring business leaders.
