Business Schools for Climate Leadership shares important new insights in tackling climate crisis
Business Schools for Climate Leadership (BS4CL) launched at COP26 last year and is a unique partnership between eight of Europe’s leading business schools to help present and future leaders combat the climate crisis.
The new series of four webinars looks ahead to COP27 in November and brings together a host of business influencers, experienced practitioners, and academic leaders.
The series includes how Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is changing Europe’s energy transition plans, innovators and entrepreneurs hold the key to Net Zero and business can turn new legal and regulatory frameworks to combat climate change into opportunities.
Commenting on the ongoing work of BS4CL, Peter Tufano, Former Dean and current Peter Moores Professor of Finance at Oxford Saïd Business School who has been heavily involved in the collaboration, said:
‘In the few months since we launched this unique partnership, between eight of Europe’s leading business schools, the world has changed and with it the challenges in solving the ever-evolving climate crisis. Giving business leaders the most up to date knowledge and skills is crucial, for education and learning must be the bedrock upon which we will tackle the greatest challenge of our lifetime.
‘With a truly impressive cast of leaders and thinkers in this space, and sharp, insightful, contemporary content, I urge anyone in business serious about being part of the climate solution to tune in and listen.’
BS4CL was launched in October 2021, coinciding with COP26. Since then, it has been providing insights and assistance to businesses, through its unique toolkit and webinar series. The toolkit has provided leaders with the materials to assess their readiness to act and tackle this planetary emergency, while the first series of webinars helped businesses understand how environmental pledges and targets can be met and made. This second series aims to further accelerate action to tackle climate change, identifying business needs ahead of COP27.
In IMD’s webinar on 17 June, hosted together with Cambridge Judge Business School and Oxford Saïd Business School, speakers including Professor Karl Schmedders will discuss the risks and opportunities for business arising from new legislation to combat climate change.
You can find a full list of the upcoming webinars, with topics, speakers, and hosting schools, on the BS4CL website.
In the spirit of collaboration, the eight business schools are sharing the hosting across four webinars and each will be released in weekly instalments. Every episode will find the answers to overcome various aspects of the climate emergency.
The eight schools involved in the project remain as Cambridge Judge Business School, HEC Paris, IE Business School, IESE Business School, the International Institute for Management Development, INSEAD, London Business School, and Saïd Business School (University of Oxford).
